L.A. Conservancy Position

The Los Angeles Conservancy is currently looking to hire a new "Historic Downtown Coordinator." Recently vacated by Trudi Sandmeier, who has moved on to become Director of Education, this position is responsible for continuing to spearhead the Conservancy's major urban initiative to revitalize the Broadway Historic Theater and Commercial District in Los Angeles’ Historic Downtown core.

The new Historic Downtown Coordinator wears many hats, serving as a facilitator, advocate, legislative liaison, and marketing director for the ongoing revitalization of the Historic Downtown.

The desired requirements for the position are as follows:

  • At least five years of experience working on urban revitalization projects, economic development, downtown revitalization, historic preservation, or urban planning projects, preferably in a complex urban environment;
  • B.A. and/or graduate degree in urban planning, historic preservation, public policy, public administration, real estate development or related fields;
  • Experience in or strong knowledge of City of Los Angeles government;
  • Knowledge of and enthusiasm for historic preservation Strong “people skills” and political savvy, including an ability to work cooperatively with divergent stakeholders in an urban setting;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with strong team-work skills;
  • Understanding of commercial real estate, development trends, and real estate finance a plus;
  • Ability to speak Spanish a strong plus.
