Arroyo Seco Parkway

The Arroyo Seco Parkway was named a National Scenic Byway in 2002, the first designation for any roadway in Southern California and the first truly urban road to be recognized. It is currently featured in an article at http://www.byways.org. The article also contains several pictures and an informative map of significant features.

The Arroyo Seco Corridor Management Plan (CMP) is now nearing completion. The Draft CMP has been an effort brought together with a team of consultants through a grant from the Federal Highway Administration's National Scenic Byway program and administered by Caltrans and the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority. The project consultants, led by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, are now seeking input and comment on the Draft CMP.

On Thursday, February 26th at the Los Angeles River Center, a presentation will be made at three separate times to accommodate everyone’s schedule as follows:

Morning 10:00 – 11:30 a.m.
Afternoon 2:00 – 3:30 p.m.
Evening** 7:00 – 8:30 p.m.

** This presentation is being co-sponsored with the Arroyo Seco Neighborhood Council

The plan has been designed to address transportation, resource preservation, community needs and heritage tourism within the framework of the Arroyo Seco Parkway (SR110). This historic roadway also been named a National Historic Civil Engineering Landmark, a California Historic Parkway and is in process of being listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The study area centers on the roadway and its surrounding view corridor, starting at the four-level interchange in downtown Los Angeles and ending at Arroyo Parkway and Colorado in downtown Pasadena.

The Los Angeles River Center is located at 570 West Avenue 26 in Los Angeles, using the Avenue 26 offramp of the Arroyo Seco Parkway or via the Metro Goldline’s Lincoln Heights/Cypress Station.
